Crewe Green Road, Crewe, North West, United Kingdom | Private University | Established 1973
The University of Buckingham is the only independent university in the UK with a Royal Charter, and probably the smallest with around 2,700 students. Honors degrees are achieved in two intensive years of study. We keep class sizes small, with a student: academic staff ratio of 10.4:1, and the Oxbridge style tutorial groups are often personalized and always exhilarating. The real basis of the University of Buckingham’s success has been its staff and, above all, students. Those who will graduate this year follow in a distinguished line and they and their successors will carry the reputation of the University to even greater heights.
The University of Buckingham has, in partnership with Apollo Hospitals Group, acquired the former Manchester Metropolitan University’s campus at Crewe. Crewe, close to both Liverpool and Manchester, is home to a range of allied health courses, including medicine (also taught in Buckingham), podiatry, biomedical science, and postgraduate medicine. Our new Health Sciences Campus is well connected to the nearby town of Crewe, with a bus service running regularly to the center and train station. The student accommodation is just a five-minute walk from your lecture theatres.
Building on the Buckingham ethos of putting the student first and above all else, our medical school is small enough for our students to be part of a coherent and supportive community, and large enough to provide all the experience you need to become a medical practitioner.
