353 5th Street, Prince Rupert, British Columbia, Canada | Public University | Established 1975
Coast Mountain College (previously known as Northwest Community College), is a publicly funded, government accredited, public post-secondary educational institution. Founded in 1975, the College serves eleven communities in the spectacularly beautiful Northwestern region of British Columbia, Canada. It is a student-centered college offering a full range of academic degree, diploma, and certificate programs in Arts, Business, Health, Science, and University Credits Arts and Science for international students, all of which provide excellent exposure to Canadian life and culture.
In as little as two years, students can complete an Associate Degree in Arts or Science. For those who wish to continue their studies, all Associate Degree courses are equivalent to university courses and can be transferred to other post-secondary institutions. The Business Administration one-year certificate and the two-year diploma programs offer a well-rounded business education. They also serve as a solid background for a range of professional career choices and further educational opportunities. The Applied Coastal Ecology program delivers the applied biological and ecological skills needed to work in coastal ecosystems. With many options of programs, Coast Mountain College provides quality learning experiences that help prepare students for successful, positive futures.
The Prince Rupert Campus provides service to Prince Rupert, Port Edward and the North Coast villages and is one of the fastest growing campuses in the College region, with enrollments in full-time programs up almost 20% over the last six years. Because of the city's location on an inner harbour on the north coast, mild marine air keeps the temperatures moderate throughout the year. Programs unique to the College and offered at the Prince Rupert campus include: the Marine program, providing theoretical training for mariners; the Applied Coastal Ecology Program, focusing on resources that are inherent to coastal areas; and the Coastal Eco-Adventure Tourism Certificate Program, preparing learners for careers in the adventure tourism sector.
Coast Mountain College builds successful futures through educational leadership in the economic, social, cultural and community development of our region. This school creates positive futures through quality learning experiences in an inclusive and respectful environment.
