Description

The BA in History with a secondary Social Studies license prepares students to become teachers who will expand students’ world views, global perspective, and critical thinking and analysis skills.

Are you interested in teaching students how the past has very relevant connections to their own personal lives? If so, you would make an excellent history teacher for seventh through twelfth grade students! In this four-year, 120 credit hour undergraduate BA program, you will learn to plan assessment-informed instruction for educational excellence and equity for all children including those from diverse racial, ethnic, linguistic, class and ability backgrounds.

At CU Denver, preparing history teachers is a highly collaborative process between the History department in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences and the School of Education & Human Development. This program offers real life experiences within secondary schools in Denver Metro area school districts.

In this teacher education program, you will learn from nationally and internationally recognized faculty members who are known for innovation and research. Through the History department, you will garner the essential content and education theory needed to be an effective history teacher. In our school district partnerships, you will "live the life of a teacher," becoming a vital member of the teaching staff as a teacher candidate.
