You will receive additional support to help you successfully complete your first year and graduate in the same amount of time as direct entry students.

What can you do with a bachelor’s degree in psychology? A degree in psychology equips you with the critical thinking, communication, and quantitative skills that help you be successful in whatever career path you choose. So, the better question is “what can’t you do with a degree in psychology?”

Psychologists help patients recover after stroke, keep pedestrians and motorists safer, employ neuroimaging to understand how emotions and traumatic memories affect the brain, and study the visual process. They figure out better treatments for conditions such as eating disorders, traumatic brain injury, chronic pain, cancer survivorship, and sleep disorders.

The curriculum in psychology provides a flexible program for the psychology major leading to the Bachelor of Science degree. The department provides a variety of experiences to give students an understanding of the basic principles and mechanisms of behavior. The scientific method is emphasized throughout the curriculum. Students with a major or minor in psychology are encouraged to obtain first-hand experience with both the creation of new knowledge (research) and the application of that knowledge in community and treatment settings. There are many opportunities for students to gain firsthand research experience by working with individual faculty members in a variety of laboratory, clinical, and field research settings. In addition, numerous community and treatment facilities provide settings for students to observe and participate in the application of psychological principles to the solution of individual and social problems.
