Within TROY’s exercise science master’s program, students will have the option to choose between a thesis or non-thesis route. By pursuing the thesis route, students will be tasked with completing an in-depth research-based project that will lead them toward a future doctoral/professional program. By choosing to pursue their master’s through a non-thesis route, they will have the opportunity to complete an internship where they will work within their rea of career interest.

No matter their specialty, this master’s degree will allow students to use your vitality and energy to inspire others and change lives. Their training will also prepare them to sit for certification examinations offered through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and other organizations in the related fields of health and fitness, clinical exercise testing and strength and conditioning.

As a student, they will benefit from this program’s comprehensive curriculum. They will be given the chance to learn in hands-on laboratory courses, research methods courses and through completing a capstone internship and/or research project. While pursuing their degree, students will have access to state-of-the-art laboratory facilities, impressive research opportunities and practical field experiences.

The Department of Kinesiology and Health Promotion also offers competitive graduate assistantship (GA) slots for students enrolled in its exercise science graduate program. GA opportunities include teaching, research and laboratory assistantships. Preference for graduate assistantships will be given to those who wish to further their education by pursuing a terminal degree (doctorate/ professional) upon completion of the kinesiology master’s degree.

This change is creating new and profound demands the healthcare system has never faced before, and is part of the reason this field is growing so quickly.
