Academic Bridge Program will provide you with extra academic support for one semester prior to gaining full admission to Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM). During the Bridge semester, you will be enrolled in courses designed specifically for "bridging the gap" to a continued and successful college career. Bridge courses consist of a University Success course, as well as a Math and/or English course. Throughout the semester, faculty and staff on our Bridge team will assist you by teaching you skills needed for success in college. The Bridge Program connects you with campus resources so that you can thrive at AUM.
When you graduate with a degree in Kinesiology, you’ll be ready to work in a number of sport or health-related fields. AUM’s Kinesiology degree has three options. Exercise Science will prepare you to be a strength and conditioning coach, exercise physiologist or health fitness instructor and for physical therapy school. With the Physical Education Teacher Certification, you’ll be able to teach elementary and secondary physical education or coach high school sports. The Sport Management option equips you for the business side of sports, leading to a job as a sports event planner, team marketer, ticket sales specialist, and more. Students in this program can choose from three concentrations:
Exercise Science
Physical Education (P–12)
Sport Management
Students earn internships that allow them to work on events such as the Camellia Bowl and with organizations such as the Atlanta Hawks, Montgomery Biscuits, Rehab Associates, and Harvard University Athletics. Students also have opportunities to engage in cutting-edge research and learn exciting laboratory techniques through hands-on experiences in the department’s Human Performance Lab and in the Warhawk Fit program.
Physical Education concentration will prepare you to teach physical education in a P-12 setting. Candidates must meet Auburn Montgomery and Alabama Department of Education teacher certification requirements. An internship is required.
