YSJ's LLB degree provides the subject knowledge needed to excel in the law and the opportunity to develop skills and attributes that are essential for a range of careers. It is a Qualifying Law Degree approved by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and Bar Standards Board.

This programme gives students the opportunity to study the foundational subjects of British law whilst pursuing a range of optional modules to suit their interests and goals. The first year of the LLB Law (Hons) programme is comprised of compulsory modules that advance the techniques of successful legal study in foundational areas of law. In the second and third years, further compulsory modules are undertaken alongside optional modules such as Employment Law and the Law of Terrorism. The range of optional modules enable students to select the route through the programme which best suits them — whether that is directed towards the legal profession, one of the many other careers open to law graduates, or just personal or academic interest. Throughout this legal practice degree, there are also opportunities to engage in mooting, mock trials, presentation activities, ‘practical’ legal problem solving and legal research.

This LLB degree will provide students with an excellent learning experience - working with a small cohort of students and academics who know them by name within a student-centred environment. York St John Law School also has excellent links with local legal practitioners. As well as the formal learning classes, there are a range of law-related extra-curricular activities for students to get involved in, such as the student law society, debating and mooting.
