Work with established industry professionals and join our community of music producers. You’ll learn how to create, arrange and manipulate music and sound using advanced sound engineering techniques and software processes. On this practical programme you’ll work with real-world artists and clients to gain the necessary skills and experience to establish yourself as an innovative professional producer.

This degree is one of a suite of Music Production courses that share the same core ideals, but offer a different focus in the field. The other degrees in the suite are Independent Music Production (BA Hons), Digital Music BA (Hons), and Music Production & Creative Business BA (Hons).

This course offers a broad experience of music production. Become a confident producer who can adapt your skills to any music production situation. You will build your portfolio by producing music for yourself and for external clients. Experience life as a 21st century producer as you immerse yourself in the industry. 

On this course you will: 

  • Learn the diverse set of production skills needed to become a confident, creative and enterprising professional working in the modern music and media industries.
  • Develop your musical understanding through writing and arranging commercial tracks.
  • Learn advanced recording techniques in conjunction with acoustic theory to capture and process sound professionally.
  • Use an array of digital technology to sequence, synthesize, sample and mangle sounds and beats for specific purposes whilst producing music for clients.
  • Develop your project management and artist development skills.
  • Advance your critical thinking and academic skills whilst contributing to current debates around production, examining modern distribution platforms, analogue recording technologies, film music and more.
  • Develop your confidence in handling contracts, copyright, client negotiations and product promotion so you're ready to establish yourself as an entrepreneurial producer.
