Description

This one-year (3 term) programme offers successful students guaranteed progression* to Year 2 of a range of business and accounting-related degrees at the University of Sunderland. Students will study their programme at the ONCAMPUS Centre located at the heart of the University of Sunderland City campus.

This programme is designed for international students who do not quite have the academic grades and/or English level to start the first year of an undergraduate degree at the University of Sunderland, but have a stronger profile than a UFP student.

All students who successfully complete the IY1 are guaranteed progression to Year 2 of a business-related undergraduate degree at the University of Sunderland. This programme is set at level 4, and is equivalent to the first year of an undergraduate business degree in the UK.

The duration of the programme is one academic year (nine months). The year is divided into three terms of seven to eight teaching weeks, one reading week, and an examination week. On average, students will undertake 23 (and up to 28) hours of classroom-based study per week .

English Language forms up to six hours of the timetable, is compulsory for students who are below the required level for progression, and will be integrated into the teaching of academic subjects as well as being taught separately if they need additional support. Students who are at or above the required English level for progression are likely to follow a reduced timetable. 

The International Year One offers guaranteed progression* to Year 2 of the following undergraduate degrees at the University of Sunderland:

• BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance
• BA (Hons) Business and Financial Management
• BA (Hons) Business and Human Resource Management
• BA (Hons) Business and Management
• BA (Hons) Business and Marketing Management

Attendance Method

At ONCAMPUS they are changing their plans, so students don't need to change theirs. At this UK centre they are making as many of their programmes as flexible as possible by offering either an online start or a face to face start. Students can come when they’re ready.

For the January 2021 intake there are four options available for students:

• Option A - Centre based* term 1, 2 and 3
• Option B - Online term 1, Centre based* term 2 and 3
• Option C - Online term 1 and 2, Centre based* term  3
• Option D - ONCAMPUS Online

*Centre based may be a combination of face to face and online learning, programme dependent and subject to change
