Description

This program consists of a pathway program offered by INTO at the International Study Centre for Queen's University Belfast followed by entry into a university program offered at the Queen's University Belfast. In your international foundation year, you will study courses related to your intended field of study alongside English to develop and enhance your skills as a student. Advancement into your intended program depends upon successful completion of the pathway program.

The International Foundation Year in Business, Humanities and Social Sciences will provide you with the skills and tools necessary for success in an undergraduate degree in a plethora of fields. During your time at Queen's University Belfast, you will study core subjects as well as optional subjects intentionally crafted for your chosen field of study. All of these skills will be key for future academic success at Queen's University Belfast.

Anthropology is the study of human diversity around the world. In studying anthropology, you will learn how different societies live together and think about such topics as family, sex, religion, art, and economics and gain skills increasingly in demand in a globalized and automated world.

The BA in Anthropology at Queen’s will allow you to examine some of the deepest and most pressing questions about human beings. Issues addressed in our modules include:

Does globalisation mean the end of cultural difference?

Can a post-conflict society heal?

How do ritual traditions, musical performances, and art shape cultural identities?

How do some people become willing to die for a group?

Through classroom modules, optional placements, performance ensembles and your own anthropological fieldwork, you will also gain valuable skills in critical thinking, cross-cultural understanding, researching, interviewing, writing, and presenting.
