In this program you will study with international classmates who share the same goal: acceptance to a UVic degree program.

University Admission Preparation (UAP) is the highest academic level of our 12-Week Intensive program, designed for you to develop the skills to participate in academic classes with confidence as a non-native English speaker.

A passing grade on this level satisfies the English requirement for entry into University of Victoria undergraduate programs.

As a UAP student you are also eligible to apply for "conditional admission" to University of Victoria undergraduate degree programs, meaning if you are academically admissible to University of Victoria, you can register in University of Victoria credit courses for the next term while you are in UAP.

Your UAP classes will focus on:

• Academic English 
• Oral presentations
• Note-taking
• Reading academic texts
• Report writing
• Research and computer use

Program features:

• 20 academic English class hours per week
• A specialized "University Skills for Success" elective class with a focus on time management, note taking, small group skills, exam skills and critical thinking
• Study Skills and Academic Integrity workshops
• An ELC Study Centre, to practise real English with Canadian volunteers
• A Pronunciation Centre, to work with a teacher in small groups
• A Writing Centre, to receive one-on-one help with writing assignments
• Access to the Computer Assisted Language Laboratory (CALL)
• Free weekly activities (coffee socials, sports, workshops and tours) and optional weekend trips with our Cultural Assistants
• Homestay accommodation and meals with a carefully selected local family
• Certificate of Participation and a Record of Grade
