Description

Interested in a career or future studies in Indigenous relations, governance, education, and culture, consider NorQuest College's new Indigenous Studies diploma, which is designed for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous learners.

The Indigenous Studies program will help student's broaden their understanding of the cultural, historical, social and political experiences of Indigenous peoples in Canada. The program will focus first on Treaty 6, then on Treaties 7 and 8, and finally on other Treaties in Canada and on global Indigenous perspectives. The program will allow students to:

  • attain their diploma to pursue a career that involves leadership in Indigenous communities or organizations that work with Indigenous peoples, or
  • begin their post-secondary career at NorQuest College and then transfer to university, or
  • gain broader understanding to support their lifelong learning and professional development in fields such as social work, community support work, or health professions
  • Increase their knowledge and awareness of Indigenous cultures, peoples, histories, and economic development structures.
