Medicine Hat College has transfer agreements with various institutions across Alberta and other provinces. Starting courses at Medicine Hat College can provide significant advantages over a large university, such as cost savings on tuition and accommodation, smaller class sizes with teaching-focused instruction and personalized advising and support. Depending on the program choice, students may be able to take up to two years at the MHC campus and then transfer on to a university and complete a degree program or professional university program. Starting at MHC will allow students to get the most out of the teaching through teaching-focused classrooms.
Becoming a teacher offers you the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of young people and to shape the future through interaction with youth. Each of us, at some point in our lives, felt the influence of a teacher who affected how we see the world and our place in it. Many of the students who enrol in our program want to make a difference in the lives of others and choose a career in teaching to make it happen.
There are two options in pursuing a degree in education at Medicine Hat College: MRU on site or other institutional transfers.
Medicine Hat College, in partnership with Mount Royal University, offers a degree completion program that can be completed in Medicine Hat. This new partnership includes two years of study for degree completion and teacher certification with a focus on elementary education after you have completed the first two years of the B.Ed.
