Academic Bridge Program will provide you with extra academic support for one semester prior to gaining full admission to Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM). During the Bridge semester, you will be enrolled in courses designed specifically for "bridging the gap" to a continued and successful college career. Bridge courses consist of a University Success course, as well as a Math and/or English course. Throughout the semester, faculty and staff on our Bridge team will assist you by teaching you skills needed for success in college. The Bridge Program connects you with campus resources so that you can thrive at AUM.
Excited about the prospect of curing disease by discovering new drugs? Or protecting the environment by analyzing contaminated water? Then Chemistry is the major for you. It’s central to the natural sciences and provides an excellent background for many different careers. You can work as a forensic scientist, in an industry or government lab, in hazardous waste management or for a business in sales and marketing. And our Chemistry major is great preparation for professional health degrees, such as medicine or pharmacology. With its low student-professor ratio, AUM offers you plenty of opportunities to strap on your own goggles and do hands-on research.
Pre-health science programs are designed to be pre-professional curricula and not degree programs in themselves. This allows students to graduate from AUM with an academic major that can provide alternative possibilities if career plans change. The most common choices of majors have been biology, mathematics and chemistry. AUM pre-health students have routinely been accepted to medical, dental, optometry, physician assistant and other health professions programs nationwide.
