Duration | 24 Months |
Level | Associate's Degree |
The Associate of Science in Geology is a first step toward a career in oil and mineral exploration, environmental science, natural resources and more. In this program, students will study the formation of soil; fossils and what they reveal; natural disasters; resource exploration and extraction and their environmental impacts; metals and gemstones, as well as some of today’s most pressing problems, including climate change, air and water pollution and loss of biodiversity.
An Associate of Science Degree in Geology can lead to a Bachelor of Science Degree program at a university. Many universities prefer candidates with an Associate Degree and will accept students at a lower grade point average. In most cases, this degree will allow students to transfer to the third year of a four-year bachelor’s degree program.
Students enrolled in this program may be eligible for a Co-operative Education designation. Co-operative Education involves alternating full-time academic and work terms. For information contact the Co-operative Education Office.
